Big Weekend of Hockey on Tap for Detroit

It seems like there is hockey whereever you turn this weekend here in Detroit. With snowflakes drifting out of the sky, here are just a few places to catch some hockey:

  • Wings vs Anaheim tonight at Joe Louis. Can Detroit keep it’s home dominance going?
  • Michigan State – Michigan tonight at Munn and tomorrow night at Joe Louis. Both teams are playing very well. Should be a great series.
  • Trenton High School Showcase. Some of the best teams in High School Hockey. Catholic Central plays Hill Academy today at 4:00, and Cranbrook gets them tomorrow. Calumet is in town from the U.P. with Levi Erkkila leading the way. Kennedy Arena has been crawling with scouts from USHL, OHL, NAHL, NCAA, and even NHL teams, and with good reason. Go to www.mihl.org for schedules and live scoring. If you are out in the Chelsea area, there is another high school showcase there as well.
  • For Girls hockey fans, the High Performance Hockey League playoffs are at Compuware for the 14U Girls. Go to www.HPHL.us for details.
  • The Whalers have some home games this weekend, including a Sunday matinee, followed by an on-ice concert. Plenty of fun for the whole family.
  • District Playoff action continues. District 4 Finals are at Birmingham Saturday and Sunday. Go to www.MAHAD4.org for the schedule. District 3 playoffs are also on tap at Suburban Ice Macomb and Fraser.

So, if you want some live hockey, there are plenty of options. Get out there and enjoy it!
